Kyle’s Gift

Kyle’s Gift is a non-profit organization comprised of volunteers dedicated to providing financial resources to programs serving the social, emotional, physical, and/or educational needs of special needs children and adults in western Missouri. We promote excellence in special needs programming and support those that are proven effective and in need of additional funding.

The organization was founded to honor the memory of Kyle Zammar and carry on his legacy. In 2006, Kyle died suddenly at the age of 22 of a cardiac condition called myocarditis. As a Lee’s Summit High School student, Kyle was an accomplished athlete, broadcaster and leader, and most thought he could have a career in one of those fields. But, after a summer of working in a classroom for special needs children, Kyle dedicated himself to working with these individuals. At the University of Missouri, he continued to excel and receive honors in his education studies and as an athlete. At the time of his death, he was about to begin a career as a special education teacher and coach.

The Kyle’s Gift grants are awarded to established organizations assisting the special needs community by providing quality programs and opportunities. Through an annual process, established organizations may apply for a one-time grant that addresses a documented need and objective to fulfill that need.

We are so grateful to our sponsors, designers, homeowners & volunteers for their contributions to the success of Mantels & Martinis. Over the last 9 years, we have raised nearly $200,000 to contribute to programs for special needs children and adults, including Special Olympics in Lee’s Summit and Jackson County, Camp Encourage, Developing Potential, and Down Syndrome Guild.
